ORW Community Timeline

This is a basic timeline with some of the highlights of our community so far!

2019

  • Ohio Reclaiming blog created as a landing page, and added to the Reclaiming main website so people can find us when they are already searching for Reclaiming tradition.
  • A listing was also made on Witchvox, before the site shut down in late 2019. Following that, a listing was added to Mandragora Magicka, where several people still find us each year.
  • The community at this point was essentially one person in Ohio, connected to wider community around the world through Witchcamp attendance and weekend intensives, putting information out there to see whether there were any Reclaiming Witches in Ohio interested in being in community.

2020

  • This was a tough year for everyone on the planet, as we know. Some people reached out online this year, though most did not stay connected long term. Some connections began here, however!
  • Ember facilitated an online discussion group for The Spiral Dance, with just a few participants, generating lots of discussion points for future groups to work with.

2021

  • More people filled out our contact form, and more began to reply back and join our online community space!
  • The first online ritual was held in July, and only two people were able to attend. That pair spent the time speaking intentions into the space about our hopes and wishes for magical community.
  • By September, we had enough people actively chatting online who wanted to get together in person, so we held our first "IRL", in-person ritual together on the third Sunday of September. (Our first online ritual with more people was held later that same week, around the autumn equinox.) This began a year of scheduling gatherings around the sabbats.

    2022

    • Theme: Hekate - This was our first year choosing an annual theme. At our first community meeting in January 2022, ORW chose to work with Hekate as our theme of the year.
      • We planned our main arc of group rituals around the Dark Moons, a sacred time for Hekate, and with some of her well known symbols as themes for individual rituals.
      • We had two community meetings throughout the year, the main goal of which were to schedule the group's events for the next several months of the year. We have done the same since then, with multiple community meetings spaced throughout the year to plan in parts.
    • In May, we held a Witchcamp Info meeting to answer questions people had about camp. Three of our members attended camp together in 2022, and others began planning for future years.
    • In September, we had an "All Day Ritual Skills Day". We got together at a park, went over Reclaiming community agreements, and talked about all kinds of things people wanted to know about Reclaiming tradition, community, rituals, camp, and more.

    2023

    • Theme: Labyrinths
      • We planned a five-ritual arc, generally to cover entering the labyrinth, moving toward the center, reaching the center, moving back outward, and finally leaving this particular labyrinth.
      • First year that we had three community meetings, to space out planning a bit more. We have continued with three community meetings per year since 2023.
    • Seven of our members attended Witchcamp together in-person this summer, four for the first time!
    • September - Celebrating two years of active community events with ORW!

    2024

    • Theme: Journey of the Selves
      • Our ritual arc throughout the year focused on working with the Three Selves, as it comes to Reclaiming through Anderson Feri Witchcraft.
      • In online gatherings, we discussed each card in the Major Arcana of Tarot throughout the year. This was conceptualized within the theme as another way of getting to know ourselves, through divination.
    • September was our 3rd anniversary.

    2025

    • Theme: The Well of Community
    • In online gatherings, we continued our Tarot chats, this time working through the entire Minor Arcana in groups by numbers: Aces, 2s, 3s, etc. which took most of the year.
    • September - Celebrating our 4th anniversary of getting together as a group.

    2026

    • Theme: Crafting Transformation: Making Art, Creating Change
      • With arts & crafts as our through-line, we will meet throughout the year to create magical objects together that will support us in our individual and collective goals.

The rest is yet to come, Witches.
