Ohio Reclaiming Witchcraft is an active community

in and around Ohio, Turtle Island (USA).

ORW started out as just one Reclaiming Witch in Ohio looking to get in touch with others. That process began in 2019. By September 2021 we had a group of active members who started meeting up to plan rituals or just spend time together both in person and online.

In 2026, we will celebrate five years of Reclaiming community in Ohio!

One FAQ we get is about whether we are a coven, and whether there is an initiation.
We do not consider this group a "coven", but rather a wider community. We recognize that whether we fit what someone is looking for will depend on how you use the word "coven"! We consider ourselves a community space for Reclaiming Witches anywhere in Ohio, and we also have some neighbors from surrounding areas and other Reclaiming communities around the globe in connection with us. There is no initiation associated with joining this group, and joining does not make you an initiate of anything.

We are an 18+ community, for legal and safety reasons. We are queer and trans-affirming and inclusive. We are anti-racists and intersectional feminists. We are connected to the wider tradition of Reclaiming Witchcraft through various channels, online and in person. Like any community, this group depends on what members are willing and able to put into it: time, energy, planning, attending meetings, or even just being around to have a conversation. Witchcraft is participatory. Please plan to participate!

Sober Spaces

Note: Reclaiming tradition spaces are intentionally alcohol and substance-free, both in person and online. This means that we do not use alcohol or recreational substances at our community events, nor do we discuss them in our online spaces. We agree to this because we believe it is possible to attain higher states of consciousness without the use of mind altering substances. We agree to this because there are many people in our community who are in recovery, and we aim to create safer, sober spaces to engage with spirituality and Witchcraft. This is not a dictate for your personal life and time outside of Reclaiming community space and events, or a judgement on other traditions you may engage in that utilize these practices. This agreement is specifically applied to the space we share together during Reclaiming community events, in person or online.

The Ohio Reclaiming community has grown over just a few years to include a core group of Witches of varying experience levels who get together online or in person when possible and safe. We also have online gatherings so that folks who are more geographically spread out can still be connected to the community. We have friends in other Reclaiming communities from other states and countries, as well, some of whom are connected with us online and help to share news from the tradition as a whole.
