Celebrating Our 4th Anniversary!

September is our community anniversary month! This year, we celebrated 4 years of actively gathering together, in-person and online.

white text on semi-transparent black circle reads "Happy Anniversary Ohio Reclaiming Witchcraft!" Dotted white line border around the circle. Background image of purple asters, a flower native to our area.

This year we celebrated by gathering at an Ohio river park with snacks, sharing time and space, chatting about our lives and current interests (what are we watching? reading? playing?), and enjoying the Sun. Not a ritual with cast sacred space and energy being raised, but a magical working nonetheless, one for community and togetherness.

Happy Anniversary, ORW!

You can read this post from our anniversary in 2023 for more background on the different ways that we could look at the anniversary of this particular community.

Blessed Be

2025 Theme - The Well of Community

We are happy to announce our 2025 theme which was decided at our January community meeting:

The Well of Community!

ORW 2025

Ceramic bowl full of water, double exposed with an image of the moon through clouds and tree branches in the depths of the water. The Moon itself is doubled in the photo, one a blurry bright ball and the other a crisp view of the crescent moon. Light blue handwriting style text reads "The Well of Community" at top, "Ohio Reclaiming Witchcraft 2025" near the bottom with three hearts above it.

Various key words we said in our group visioning: restorative, elements, circles, cauldron, community, wheel, hub, gathering, re-wild, rejuvenate, restore, return (to center), reunion, re-source, re-store, re-flect, re-new

One of our members wrote this lovely description:

The well of community is a place of gathering, where we come together to share resources and stories, rewild and restore ourselves, and strengthen our connection to each other and the world around us. It bridges the physical and spiritual realms, offering a space for renewal and unity.

The well is anchored in the earth, drawing water from the ground and symbolizing stability and grounding. Its open structure interacts with air, allowing the movement of fresh air to represent communication and balance. The well holds water, the essence of life, symbolizing emotional depth, adaptability, and connection. And even fire is reflected in the energy and effort required to build, maintain, and utilize the well.

Finally, the well embodies spirit, serving as a unifying force that brings together the elements and the community it sustains. It stands as a symbol of harmony, resilience, and shared purpose.

Blessed Be the Well of Community!

2024 Theme - Journey of the Selves

Text reads: Journey of the Selves, Ohio Reclaiming 2024, in black and white text. Black box at bottom with white text reads: OhioReclaiming.blogspot.com Background image shows a paved, two-lane road that curves out of view into an evergreen forest.

Background image same as first image. Additional text reads: the Three Selves. five rituals throughout the solar year with Younger Self, Talking Self, and Deep Self. Tarot Moons. 22 gatherings at the dark and full moons exploring each major arcana card in turn. Sparkly blue twinkling star graphics act as bullet points.

Our 2024 Theme - Journey of the Selves!

  • The Three Selves: five rituals throughout the solar year with Younger Self, Talking Self, and Deep Self.
  • Tarot Moons: 22 gatherings at the dark and full moons exploring each major arcana card in turn.
Throughout this year we will trek through Reclaiming’s version of the Three Souls, a concept shared with Feri Tradition Witchcraft. Starhawk's adaptation appears in her book “The Spiral Dance”, as Younger Self (the unconscious mind), Talking Self (which gives verbal and conscious outward expression), and Deep Self or God Self (the Divine that lies within every one of us). These Selves are also worked with throughout "The Twelve Wild Swans" by Starhawk and Hilary Valentine.

Loosely connected by representing the structure of human consciousness, the Major Arcana of the Tarot bring to light the archetypal themes, and life lessons that appear in our lives.

We hope to acquire a knowledge of how these archetypes help us understand ourselves and the world around us. We are excited to explore the lessons both of these pivotal notions can bring ourselves and our community! Blessed be our 2024 expedition!

ORW Anniversary

white text on semi-transparent circle reads "Happy Anniversary Ohio Reclaiming Witchcraft!" Background image is a photo of purple aster flowers.

September is our anniversary month!

Okay, this community has a few different anniversaries, depending on how you look at it. This blog, which was the beginning of the process of creating this lovely community we now have here in Ohio, was created in April 2019. The link to this blog was then added to the Reclaiming website's "Find Us Worldwide" page.

September 2021 is our anniversary of being in community. It was the first time we had enough people actively involved and chatting in our online space, who actually wanted to get together, and committed to meeting up to make something happen. Some of us met up in person at other events and in other public places first, so some of us had met in person, while others had only gotten to know each other over months in our online space.

Then, when the time came, six of us met to celebrate the Full Moon in September.

That year, this was the third Sunday of the month, the date closest to the Full Moon that we could meet. We also had an online Equinox gathering later that week, with twelve in attendance via video call.

So which anniversary this is, exactly, depends on how you count. It's been four years since the building of this community began. Three years since some members of our wider community got in touch with us. Two years since we began having rituals with more than two people, as the community that we call Ohio Reclaiming.

May we ever be grateful for all that lead us here, for our paths to cross, to merge, to grow together. Blessed Be.
